Meet Sharon

I am the Creative Director and Founder of The Long Table Collective.

Or more accurately, this is my idea.

I went looking for a creative space where I felt I belonged and came up short. Rather than keep looking I decided to make one for myself, which is inevitably how I get myself into things, I find something I want and decide “yeah I can make that”.

About me, I am a woman of a certain age who no longer worries about what people think, and what a relief that has been. I live with my adult daughter, two elderly dogs and a tiger living in the tiny body of our cat. During the summer I can often be found in a field singing my heart out with sixty thousand other people, in the winter, well we do it indoors!

I am what can be best described as a talkative introvert, which is to say if given the choice to go out and do things or stay home and make something I am choosing home, but I want to be able to tell someone about it.

For me there is a huge difference between creativity as a profession and creativity as a way of being. When I create, it is more likely to be something I make for a friend’s new baby than something I can market and sell. I create because it brings me joy, whilst I am making it and when I get the opportunity to gift my creations.

I am reminded of the saying that when you have more than you need, build a longer table, not a higher wall. Well, I have more than enough passion for building and living an authentic creative life to share and I wish to bring you along with me, as collaborators and my village, and I hope I can be that for you too.
